I confess, (as I must do from time to time to keep the title of this depository valid) that I have managed to fall desperately behind in telling the tales of my life in this space. An entire year of my life, filled with adventures and lessons and reflections a-plenty remains (restlessly) un-written. And since I'm an incurably comprehensive person, I cannot just leave it thus. I shall...bit by bit, earn my way back up to date. So watch the space below for tales falling between fall of last year and fall of this year, which will gradually start appearing with some clever back-dating. (Stories may include: England, Scotland, & Wales: Black Pudding, Puffins & Sheep; Armenia...why do you trouble me so?; Learning how not to hate running; Adventures in Tajikistan; Returning to Kazakhstan-16 years later; Spain & Portugal: Oh to be a moorish princess...or a sea-faring explorer; Worm Ranching; Finding my inner domestic goddess; Poetry in my garden....and more....or perhaps not...that's an ambitious list.) Below, is a wee post from the very recent past, to get me back in the spirit before I attempt the entire past year.
In the meantime, I offer this short note to tell any reader friend who has not seen, heard or read of me for sometime, that I live. I am healthy. I remain positively engaged in the ever-engaging wide world of international development. I continue to reside in a happy flat in the best neighbourhood in Brussels....I struggle, and stress, and worry, and haven't figured out life all that much more than one year ago...but I plod on - no, make that skip on - and enjoy the nuggets of truth & beauty & joy & love that I find en route.
Unless I'm otherwise surprised, I see myself remaining in this spot for the next year-ish, give or take some months - and then the winds of change may blow me on to my next destination. But that is to be determined.
In the meantime, I am here, and here I shall continue to nurture good things that grow here: the herbs in my pots, my work in Tajikistan, the neural connections in my brain, friendships, my heart.
